Who we are

The St. Tammany Fishing Pier is a testament to the resilience of the citizens of St. Tammany Parish. After Hurricane Katrina destroyed the original I-10 Twinspans, then Parish President Kevin Davis decided to repurpose the structure for public use. The Parish worked cooperatively with the Louisiana Department of Transportation and Development and the Louisiana Department of Wildlife and Fisheries to see the plan through to fruition. After securing funding through local, state and federal sources, the 650 foot pier was opened to the public in June of 2012, making history as the first public fishing pier in the region since the 1960s. However, when Hurricane Isaac hit in 2012, the pier was damaged, and was subsequently closed. Repairs to the pier were complete in December of 2013, and the Pier reopened to the public in January of 2014. This is the first phase of a mutli-phase project.

The fishing pier is just one of the many places we love to gather for a day of recreation, to sightsee or to just sit back and relax. This fishing pier is recognized as the best place for rest by many professional players in the casino. More information on how much stress players withstand during online casino tournaments can be found in this page. A quiet fishing pier is a great place to relieve stress and peace of mind. We look forward to having generations of families enjoy the pier for many years to come.
